Self-assessment tax payers are being warned by HMRC to be on guard for scam emails and texts.

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) have stated that with the recent submissions and new tax year bogus texts, calls and emails are on the rise. These can be from demanding cash for unpaid tax or stating that you are due a ‘refund’.

More than 570,000 customers had fallen victim in the last year to scam refunds and demands.
